ROSETTA International Networking Event – From waste to value: alternative market access meets food marketing standards

This Networking Event is organised as part of the Horizon Europe project ROSETTA, which aims to reduce food waste linked to food marketing standards and support more sustainable, circular food systems across Europe.

The event will bring together stakeholders from across the food value chain – including researchers, agri-food businesses, policymakers, public authorities, NGOs, and civil society organisations.

We invite you to register your participation and help us co-create an event that is tailored to your needs. Please note that on-site spots are limited and we will aim for balanced representation across stakeholder groups.

Participation is free of charge. A networking lunch and refreshments will be provided to in-person participants.

Invited Speakers

Zoë Verdaasdonk – Project Manager, Food Waste Free United NL

Zoë Verdaasdonk works as a Project Manager at Food Waste Free United NL, an organisation committed to keeping an additional 1 billion kilograms of food within the Dutch food system each year. In her role, she supports companies in developing and scaling innovative solutions to prevent and reduce food waste.

One of her key initiatives is the Date Labelling Coalition, which aims to improve consumer understanding of Best Before and Use By dates. The coalition brings together major food system actors such as Unilever, Lidl, and Danone, who apply clear visual cues and consumer guidance to support better food use decisions.

Knowledge sharing, collaboration, and inspiring systemic change towards a healthier and more sustainable food system are central to her work.

Zuzana Madajová – Chairwoman, Free Food – jedlo pre všetkých

Zuzana Madajová is the Chairwoman of Free Food – jedlo pre všetkých, a Slovak NGO dedicated to food waste prevention and to advancing social and environmental sustainability.

She leads and implements initiatives that reduce food waste while engaging citizens, communities, and organisations through talks, workshops, and awareness-raising activities. Her work is driven by a strong commitment to building fairer and more sustainable food systems at local and national level.

Dr. Gyula Kasza – Founder, Maradék nélkül programme

Dr. Gyula Kasza is the founder of Maradék nélkül, Hungary’s national food waste prevention programme operated by the National Food Chain Safety Office (Nébih). He has over 16 years of experience in public administration, including roles at the Ministry of Agriculture and Nébih.

Alongside his policy work, he has pursued an academic career since 2000 and currently heads the Department of Applied Food Science at the University of Veterinary Medicine in Budapest. Together with his research group, he recently established the Maradék Nélkül Foundation, supporting food waste prevention initiatives through research and expert guidance.

Dr. Kasza is actively involved at EU level, contributing to the EU Platform on Food Losses and Food Waste, serving as lead expert for the JRC European Consumer Food Waste Forum, and supporting the European Commission’s European Citizens Panel on Food Waste as a Knowledge Committee member.
